Frequently Asked Questions

What does the choir sing?

We have an extensive repertoire of songs, including operatic choruses, stage show favourites, choral works by the great composers, modern light music, traditional songs, sacred music and just about every other kind. The music is chosen by the musical director. Each concert will include a mixture of songs to give something for everyone to enjoy.

How do I book the choir?

Contact the secretary by email. The choir is booked well in advance, so usually at least a year's notice will be needed. The choir normally performs three Christmas concerts during the month of December.

How much does it cost to book?

There is a charge to cover our transport costs, which will be agreed when you book, other than this there is no additional appearance fee. This means that most concerts produce a healthy benefit to the organisers' chosen charity or good cause. The choir is self-financing by means of CD sales, members' contributions and sale of momentos at concerts. No cost falls to the public.

How do I join?

Contact the secretary by email via the 'contact us' button on this page. Alternatively, talk to any member of the choir at a concert, or simply turn up at a practice. You will be made very welcome.

What would my commitment as a member be?

The choir practices every Thursday evening, from 7.00 till 9.30, at Police HQ Sutton Road, Maidstone. There are around fifteen concerts each year, mainly on Saturday evenings. There is no strict rule about attending all practices or concerts, merely the pressure of enjoyment! All music and uniforms are provided by the choir.
