Stephen Meech

This page was first published in February 2003

Stephen sings in the bass section of the choir, together with his father Ray Meech. He first joined in 2001 after he had attended one of our concerts. Prior to this another member, Mark Lucky, had been trying to persuade him to join us. At the concert he liked what he heard and decided to join. He initially sang in the second tenor section but was persuaded that he would be more useful as a bass.

After singing in his school choir Stephen had no further formal singing until he joined the choir of Marden Church about 1995 - as a bass. He also enjoys this music and has sung solo in the Christmas carol service.

By profession Stephen is a general practitioner in Maidstone. He took his degree at St.George's Hospital Medical School in 1983 and went on to Hastings General Practitioner Training Scheme before joining his present group practice. He was chairman of the Kent Local Medical Committee and has appeared on local radio and television stations discussing medical matters.

Stephen's principal hobby is home computing and he enjoys sailing when the opportunity arises. He has spent happy family holidays flotilla sailing from Greece and Turkey. He keeps fit by cycling and swimming and also enjoys reading and keeping tropical fish. He is a family man, having four children to keep him busy! Despite all these activities he is in regular attendance at our practice and concerts. Well done Stephen.
