Raymond sings in the first fenor section of the choir. He joined in 1999 after being invited to do so by a member at that time, the late Michael Morling. He has an extensive pedigree in choral singing, his previous experience having included Peterborough Cathedral Choir, The King's School, Canterbury Chapel Choir, The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition and of All Saints, London, and in the Russian Orthodox Parish of St. Theodore, Canterbury. Ray still sings at the latter two as well as with our choir - busy man!

Following University at Edinburgh, Cambridge and London he became a schoolmaster at Abingdon School, Oxon and later at The King's School, Canterbury until 1998. At this time, Raymond had as a pupil the british born american astronaut Michael Foale, who achieved fame when he joined the orbiting Russian Mir spacecraft, following a collision with another spacecraft.

He is a Fellow of the 'Royal Astronomical Society' and was a member of the 'Association for Astronomy Education' until 1999. Ray currently lectures in astrophysics part-time at the University of Kent at Canterbury. He also works as a court usher at Ashford County Court.

Raymond's sporting past has seen him rowing for school and University crews as well as other rowing clubs. He is a member of the stewards' enclosure at Henley Royal Regatta.

Ray has a collection of some 130,000 railway tickets from Britain and 2000 from elsewhere dating back to the 1850's. He is a member of the 'Transport Ticket Society' and the 'Railway Correspondence and Travel Society'.

You are a busy man Ray - we are very glad you have the time for us. Thank you.
