Michael Clayton

This page was first published in January 2002

Michael sings in the first tenor section of the choir which he joined in 1989 after speaking with the then secretary John Pearce and a colleague, Theresa Sime, who often helped the choir with secretarial duties .

Prior to joining our choir he was a member of several choirs before settling as a member of the choir of All Saints Church, Maidstone, where he was involved in cathedral standard singing for nine years.

Mike is a qualified cost and management accountant, a career which he took up after serving in the army for three years. Most of his professional life has been spent in industry, mainly in paper-making and paper conversion. He began auditing our choir accounts in 1991 and shortly afterwards he became our treasurer, a post at which he excels - keeping the choir's finances healthy!

In November 1992, Michael joined Kent Police as an accountant and has been enjoying his retirement since February 2002.

Besides singing, his hobbies include bowls, gardening, music, theatre - especially musicals - walking and visiting cathedrals. He is a devoted fan of the bands of HM Royal Marines and will travel long distances to attend their concerts and appearances.

We are indebted to you Mike, not only for managing our finances so well, but also for being a very regular attender at so many practices and concerts. Well done.
